Don Was has worked with the biggest names in music over the course of a nearly 50-year career in the music business. Bob Dylan, Brian Wilson, Bonnie Raitt, Soloman Burke, the Rolling Stones and Kurt Elling are just a small sample of the artists Was has produced music for. In addition to his duties leading Blue Note Records, Was also has some radio projects and performs with former Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir. But the Michigan native started hungering for something else several years ago. He wanted to make the type of music that inspired him during his formative years growing up in Detroit. That led to the formation of the Pan Detroit Ensemble.
