Oscar-Winning Composer Justin Hurwitz Brings Scores to Life At Screenings
WDCB’s Gary Zidek catches up with renowned composer Justin Hurwitz to talk about his upcoming visit to Chicago.

Acclaimed composer Justin Hurwitz has crafted some of the most celebrated film scores from past 11 years. The Wisconsin-native wrote the music used in WHIPLASH, LA LA LAND, FIRST MAN and BABYLON. Along the way he picked up a couple Oscars, four Golden Globes and two Grammy Awards. Now Hurwitz is taking his music on the road, presenting special screening events with live performances of scores. He was in Chicago this past spring with an orchestra performing the music from LA LA LAND, and now he’s back in town for a special presentation of the 2014 award-winning film, WHIPLASH.
The WHIPLASH IN CONCERT event will take place Saturday 9/13 at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. Hurwitz will conduct an 18-piece jazz big band and special guest drummer as WHIPLASH plays on the big screen. You can find more info auditoriumtheatre.org/events/detail/whiplash-in-concert
