Local theater fans can get an up-close glimpse of some new works that one day might end up on much bigger stages at a festival that starts on Monday May 23. The 3-week New Plays Festival is presented every three years by an organization known as Chicago Writers’ Bloc. This year’s fest will serve as a return of in-person audiences and as a celebration of Chicago Writers’ Bloc’s 30th anniversary.
