58th Chicago International Film Festival Set to Welcome Cinema-Lovers

WDCB’s Gary Zidek catches up with Chicago International Film Festival artistic director Mimi Plauché to talk about this year’s fest.

Cinema lover rejoice, the 58th edition of the Chicago International Film Festival starts Wednesday October 12. This year feel like a return of sorts to pre-2020, and to mark the occasion this year’s fest is going to kick-off with a celebratory Block Party on Southport in front of the Music Box Theater. The opening night film is a screening of director Steve James’ new documentary, A COMPASSIONATE SPY. The festival will be presenting the Chicago premieres of several highly anticipated films including Rian Johnson’s KNIVES OUT follow up, GLASS ONION, Sarah Polley’s WOMEN TALKING and Daren Aronofsky’s festival darling THE WHALE. Those are just a small sample of a program that includes 92 feature films and 56 shorts.
