The Dueling Critics, Kerry Reid and Jonathan Abarbanel, review Water People Theatre's THE DELICATE TEARS OF THE WANING MOON.

“It didn’t go in the direction that I thought it might when the play first started, which I found very refreshing. (It’s) centered on the need for Paulina to regain her memories, because without them, who is she? What has her career meant? What has her love for her mother and her daughter meant? If she cannot reconnect these things. In a way, that’s a metaphor for what journalists are, they keep these memories for us, they tell the stories for us.”  - Kerry Reid talking about THE DELICATE TEARS OF THE WANING MOON.

The 3rd ever Chicago International Latino Theater Festival kicked off last month and continues through the end of October. One of the plays making its world premiere at the festival is Water People Theater’s THE DELICATE TEARS OF THE WANING MOON. Written by and starring Water People founder Rebeca Aleman, the play’s action revolves around the recovery of a human rights reporter in Mexico who has recently emerged from a coma without her memory.

Both Kerry and Jonathan recommend THE DELICATE TEARS OF THE WANING MOON. It continues at Steppenwolf’s 1700 Theatre through October 13.
