“I’m glad you called out how well the songs meshed, because as you say sometimes jukebox musicals you think ‘boy, they are really straining to have a reason to put this in the show’. Here everything felt like it was … the songs themselves felt like they were very much rising organically out of the moment of the narrative.” - Kerry Reid responding to Jonathan Abarbanel’s praise of the production’s use of the Go-Go’s music.

The Go-Go’s jukebox musical that opened on Broadway last year is now being presented in Chicago by Kokandy Productions. Titled HEAD OVER HEELS, the musical mixes Sir Phillip Sidney’s 16th century work THE COUNTESS OF PEMBROKE’S ARCADIA with music from the all-woman pop-rock group, The Go-Go’s.
The Dueling Critics’ lips aren’t sealed, they both recommend Kokandy’s production of HEAD OVER HEELS. It continues at Theater Wit through August 25.
