Chicago playwright Isaac Gomez’s play LA RUTA is making its world premiere at Steppenwolf’s Upstairs Theatre. Inspired by the real stories of Mexican women who live and work in ciudad Juarez, the play shines a light on a horrific epidemic of missing and murdered women that’s goes back to the early 90’s.

“What I think Isaac is trying to give witness to these womens’ voices, bear witness to them. And let us see their humanity, they’re not just victims, let us see them in their pain, in their joy, we see them at their workplace.” - Kerry Reid talking about Isaac Gomez’s LA RUTA.
