The Dueling Critics, Kerry Reid and Jonathan Abarbanel, review Steppenwolf Theatre's world premiere MS. BLAKK FOR PRESIDENT.

A somewhat forgotten piece of Chicago history is explored in Steppenwolf Theatre’s world premiere MS. BLAKK FOR PRESIDENT. Co-written by Oscar winner and Tony Award nominee Tarrell Alvin McCraney and Tony nominee Tina Landau, the play is inspired by the true story of the country’s first-ever black drag queen presidential candidate. Landau directs the production, which stars McCraney in the lead role of Joan Jett Blakk.

Both the Dueling Critics recommend the world premiere.

MS. BLAKK FOR PRESIDENT continues at Steppenwolf’s upstairs theater through July 21.
