Chicago-Area House Inspires New Horror Film
WDCB’s Gary Zidek catches up with the stars of the new horror movie, GIRL ON THE THIRD FLOOR. The film was shot on location at a house with a mysterious past.

A house in southwest suburban Frankfort is at the center of a new horror film that recently had its Chicago premiere at the Chicago International Film Festival. GIRL ON THE THIRD FLOOR was filmed on location at a house with a mysterious history that includes stories of a bordello. murder and ghosts. The movie’s plot involves a man tasked with renovating a Victorian house for his soon-to-be expanding family, when some strange things begin to happen. While that might sound like the set-up for a traditional haunted house movie, there’s more than meets the eye in THE GIRL ON THE THIRD FLOOR.

Phil Brooks, aka CM Punk, leads a mostly Chicago-based cast in GIRL ON THE THIRD FLOOR. Chicago actors Sarah Brooks and Travis Delgado both remember a strange vibe inside the house where the movie was filmed. According to local lore, two girls died in the house in the early 1900’s and remain there as ghosts. The urban legend says the property at the corner of Sauk Trail & Center Road in Frankfort was a bordello for a period and a murder occurred there at some point. The details serve as an inspiration to script that became GIRL ON THE THIRD FLOOR.

“There (were) two girls who died in the house, so I was portraying one of them. And there was a bedroom for her, that the former owner kept and preserved for these spirits, that were within the house.
