Volumes have been written scrutinizing and interpreting Bob Dylan’s music. But there isn’t much academic writing on the subject of Dylan’s work as a filmmaker. The folk icon has seemingly always been fascinated with film, though his efforts in cinema have been often overlooked. Chicago-based filmmaker and Dylan superfan Michael Glover Smith believes the singer-songwriter’s film work deserves to be reexamined. He’s the author of the new book BOB DYLAN AS FILMMAKER: NO TIME TO THINK.
