A year after Tom Cruise helped save Hollywood with TOP GUN: MAVERICK, 2023’s final box office numbers were salvaged by BARBENHEIMER, the dual July release of OPPENHEIMER and BARBIE. Some of the other box office performers were animated, THE SUPER MARIO BROTHERS MOVIE and SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE finished the year as the 2nd and 3rd biggest money makers (BARBIE was number one by a lot).

Box office returns, nor award nominations had any impact on Gary’s list, these are simply his favorite films of 2023.
