If you love live music, there’s something undeniably alluring about the prospect of a secret show. A London-based company is taking that concept to the next level by curating and presenting hundreds of secret shows around the world. The idea for SoFar Sounds was born in London back in 2009, today the company produces performances in 325 cities across the globe, including here in Chicago.
How does it work? Users go to SoFar Sounds website, search their home city for a neighborhood and buy a ticket … not knowing who will be performing or the exact address of the show. Each SoFar Sounds event includes 3 acts, each from a different genre. One of the other key features is that the company selects unique venues to present their shows, sometimes in places you would never think of hosting a concert. Despite a pandemic pause, SoFar Sounds’ popularity continues to grow. A recent search of Chicago-area shows revealed some sold dates.
