Chicago’s cultural landscape has been hit hard over the past 14 months, we’ve become accustomed to announcements regarding event cancellations and postponements. But there is reason for optimism, this past week, Chicago city leaders were able to deliver some good news.

Last week, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot and a group of arts leaders heralded the return of in-person cultural programming this summer. The plan is being branded OPEN CULTURE, which is the latest phase of the city’s OPEN CHICAGO initiative.

A schedule of programs and events that will be open to in-person audiences this summer was unveiled. The city highlighted everything from the return of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in late May to the Hyde Park Jazz Fest in September.  And there will be lots happening in-between.
