A new book titled PAPPYLAND: A STORY OF FAMILY, FINE BOURBON AND THE THINGS THAT LAST offers a fascinating deep dive into the world of Kentucky bourbon. The book focuses specifically on the legacy of the Van Winkles, who have been in the whiskey business for over a hundred years. PAPPYLAND comes from ESPN senior writer Wright Thompson. The Mississippi native spent years with the current patriarch of the Van Winkle family, Julian Van Winkle III, getting the inside story of the world’s most sought after bourbon. But the book is much more than a history of the Van Winkle’s business, it tells a story of fathers-and-sons, shifting tastes and following dreams.
