WDCB's Gary ZIdek sits down with opera singer Brandon Jovanovich.
“I think my case isn’t necessarily the average route an opera singer takes. But it worked out perfect for me, it’s been slow and steady, and that’s what I needed.” - Brandon Jovanovich talking about his unique career path to becoming a world renowned opera singer.
Opera singer Brandon Jovanovich has blazed his own path to becoming an award-winning tenor. The Montana-native wasn’t thinking about opera when he graduated high school and went to a college in North Dakota to play football. But a series of twists and turns led him to a successful career on some of the world’s biggest opera stages.
Jovanovich spends a good portion of the year on the road, traveling all over the world to perform in different productions. But he has a rare period of stability right now as he’s performing in three back to back to back productions at Lyric Opera. Which means, Jovanovich can spend more time at home with his wife and three kids. What’s unique about Jovanovich’s situation is that home is a small farm that’s located just under 70 miles west of Lyric Opera House in the small town of Sycamore, Illinois.
Brandon Jovanovich be in Lyric productions through early May when the company wraps up its much-anticipated Ring cycle. The QUEEN OF SPADES production continues through March 1. You can more information about Lyric’s upcoming schedule at lyricopera.org
