LISTEN
The first production in Steppenwolf Theatre’s new virtual series Steppenwolf NOW is a play titled WHAT IS LEFT, BURNS. The 20-minute piece was written by James Ijames and directed by Whitney White. The two theater artists were working together on THE MOST SPECTACULARLY LAMENTABLE TRIAL OF MIZ MARTHA WASHINGTON, which was set to open at Steppenwolf this past April, but of course had to postpone because of the pandemic. In WHAT IS LEFT, BURNS two former lovers with a significant age gap engage in a video call rendezvous after some time apart.
Both Kerry and Jonathan strongly recommend WHAT IS LEFT, BURNS. People can access the virtual play with the purchase of a Steppenwolf NOW membership, which includes six productions for $75 total. Discounted $50 memberships are offered to essential workers, including artists, as well as students and educators. Single tickets to each show are not available.
