WDCB's Gary Zidek talks to best-selling author Candace Bushnell about her new book, IS THERE STILL SEX IN THE CITY?
“I think one of the things that’s frightening is people in their 20’s really think people in their 50’s are old, old, OLD! It’s very difficult, and that’s one of the problems with ageism, is that there’s just such a dismissal of people as they get older, of not being relevant.” - Author Candace Bushnell talking about ageism, one of the themes explored in IS THERE STILL SEX IN THE CITY?
Twenty five years ago, Candace Bushnell began writing a column about her and her friends’ personal lives for the New York Observer titled SEX AND THE CITY. The column wound up becoming the source material for a landmark TV show, two films and one of the most influential pop culture characters of the past quarter century (Carrie Bradshaw).
The novel isn’t a sequel to the original SEX AND THE CITY story lines, there’s an entire new squad of characters navigating New York City’s social circles. The characters are a little older, but the same humor and wit that made Bushnell’s other writings so fun are still in play.
