After years of planning, the Terra Foundation for American Art made 2018 the year of Art Design Chicago. The year-long initiative celebrated the city’s history as a world-class center for creativity and innovation. The Terra Foundation partnered with 95 organizations to create a full year of programming, that included the presentation of 46 new exhibits, 29 publications and over 300 public events.

Additional data is still coming in, but the numbers that have emerged paint an encouraging picture: an estimated 2.5 million people directly engaged in some form with Art Design Chicago exhibitions and programs that were part of the initiative, and nearly 60% of exhibiting organizations reported larger attendance than at past exhibitions of similar size and scope.
