The Dueling Critics, Kerry Reid and Jonathan Abarbanel, review the Chicago premiere of CAMBODIAN ROCK BAND.

“It’s not told through the eyes of western journalists or western aid workers, it’s their stories and really giving a very multi-layered, wide-ranging picture of the resilience, the defiance, what it took to get through that.” - Kerry Reid talking about the perspective of CAMBODIAN ROCK BAND.

Lauren Yee’s CAMBODIAN ROCK BAND is making its Chicago premiere at Victory Gardens Theater. The play is part rock show, part family drama & part mystery. And while there are moments of humor, it also touches on the real life tragedy of the Cambodian genocide that took place after the Vietnam war. CAMBODIAN ROCK BAND features the music of real-life Cambodian rock group, Dengue Fever (the California-based band will be playing at Lincoln Hall on 05/01).

Both the Dueling Critics strongly recommend Victory Gardens Theater’s Chicago premiere of CAMBODIAN ROCK BAND.

The play is running through May 5.
