WDCB's Gary Zidek talks to Chicago International Film Festival Artistic Director Mimi Plauche about her approach to programming.

“I think that there are some through lines with every year, the (Chicago International Film) Festival has always been a festival of discovery, so we’re always looking to discover new directors, new filmmakers and maybe also new trends.” - Mimi Plauché, Artistic Director of the Chicago International Film Festival.

There’s a lot that falls under the Chicago International Film Festival programming umbrella: the international competition, the new director’s competition, the documentary competition and a number of unique spotlight series. And the festival will also feature a series of high-profile gala presentations, like the opening night film, BEAUTIFUL BOY.

The Chicago-set WIDOWS will also be screened at the Festival on Saturday 10/13. Academy Award-winning director Steve McQueen has a history with the Chicago International Film Festival.
