WDCB's Gary Zidek reviews new film ALL ABOUT NINA.

Filmmaker Eva Vives’ debut feature, ALL ABOUT NINA, can’t easily be categorized. It’s part comedy, part drama and part love story. The title character Nina Geld, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead, is an edgy stand-up comedian trying to take the next step in her career, while also confronting personal demons.

ALL ABOUT NINA is really all about Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Her portrayal of an emotionally damaged woman struggling to cope with past traumas is truly remarkable.  Winstead also nails the part of playing a contemporary stand-up comic.

Nina Geld (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) is an up-and-coming comedian in New York City. She's funny, smart and has worked hard to build a career for herself in the male-dominated world of stand-up. But when it comes to romantic relationships, Nina's life is a mess.

Writer/director Eva Vives has created a film that refuses to provide easy answers for the sake of audience satisfaction.  Gary gives ALL ABOUT NINA 3 out of 4 stars ***.
