Earlier this year, drummer and NEA Jazz Master Terri Lyne Carrington picked up a Grammy for her latest release, New Standards, Vol. 1. The album and a companion volume of sheet music mark a years-long effort to shed light on female composers whose works have long been left out of the jazz canon.
