Pianist Ryan Cohan Discusses New Album

“I did not have this music at all in my head, it was something that’s taken shape in the last few years for me, that has just been an evolution of that experience as opposed to having an idea of what it meant to me at that time.” - Ryan Cohan talking about the composition of the pieces on his new album ORIGINATIONS.

A little less than a year after Ryan Cohan and his ensemble performed ORIGINATIONS at the Chicago Jazz Festival, he released an album version of the project. WDCB’s Leslie Keros caught up with Cohan ahead of that 2019 performance, you can listen to that piece here.
