“To be honest with you, this goes sort of against everything we believe in. We believe in movies on the big screen, we believe movies should be a shared experience, but when you can’t do those things, you have to pivot and you have to be flexible, and you have to think about what’s the next best thing.” - Jean de St. Aubin, executive director of the Gene Siskel Film Center, talking about the adapting to the current social distancing mandates by creating a streaming series.

While theater companies, dance troupes, musicians and comedians are turning to streaming platforms to connect their with audiences in new and exciting ways during this period of social distancing, movie theaters are facing a truly unique set of challenges. A number of independent theaters are launching remote-viewing initiatives that create avenues for film exhibitors to connect with stuck-at-home cinephiles. The Gene Siskel Film Center recently introduced a streaming series its calling, FILM CENTER FROM YOUR SOFA.
