WDCB's Gary Zidek talks to multi-media artist David Wallace Haskins about his new exhibit, POLARITY.
“There are those stories that every artist is painting the same painting, or poet is writing the same poem, songwriter is writing the same song. So, I keep coming back to the same themes, which (are) these tensions that we live in, these seemingly disparate realities that we find ourselves living in.” - David Wallace Haskins talking about the inspiration for POLARITY.
POLARITY features four new installations: WHERE WE MEET, ARCHITECTURE OF LIGHT, TIME MIRROR III and ASCENSION/DESCENSION, an intervention inside the historic McCormick House.
Visitors who walk through TIME MIRROR III will see themselves in a new way.
Next up, visitors will experience ARCHITECTURE OF LIGHT
Haskins was also able to create an architectural intervention inside the famous McCormick House, designed by Mies van der Rohe.
Haskins carefully installed mirrors on the floors and ceilings of the McCormick House with the goal of bringing van der Rohe’s famous skyscraper aesthetic inside a one story house.
David Wallace Haskins’ new solo exhibition POLARITY will be on display at the Elmhurst Art Museum through January 13.
