"He takes religion seriously, without himself buying into religious arguments. So, he doesn't ridicule people who are religious, but he also takes seriously people who are not religious. It's a very delicate balancing act, very intellectually honest." - Kelly Kleiman talking about playwright Samuel Hunter's treatment of religion.
Set in a church basement, the play focuses on a group of young missionaries preparing to bring their religious message to the Middle East.
The Dueling Critics both recommend Griffen Theatre's production of THE HARVEST.
And Gary has a recommendation of his own this week ...
The spicy, Diamond With a Flaw cocktail and the invitation/program to Windy City Playhouse's SOUTHERN GOTHIC.
Written by Leslie Liautaud and directed by David Bell, SOUTHERN GOTHIC is a true immersive theater experience.
A scene from Windy City Playhouse's production of SOUTHERN GOTHIC
Rather than a traditional theater with a stage and seats, Windy City Playhouse has built a replica house inside it’s space at 3014 Irving Park Road. The audience is able to enter the house or stay outside of it. There is no designated audience area, you can sit or stand almost wherever you want. One of the guidelines in the program states not to sit on the set furniture in the middle of the rooms. But other than that your free to roam wherever you want.
