Ravinia 2020 Preview + Coronavirus Impact on Theaters
Gary Zidek

There’s obviously a lot going on right now, as we continue to monitor developments with the coronavirus situation, this edition of The Arts Section touches on some of the impacts COVID-19 is having on the local arts community. Host Gary Zidek sits down with the president/CEO of Ravinia, Welz Kauffman, to talk about the festival’s recently announced 2020 season. As of now, Ravinia is taking a wait-and-see approach as the start of its season is still almost 3 months ago. Later in the program, Gary talks to Deb Clapp, the executive director of the League of Chicago Theatres, about the coronavirus’ impact on local theaters. And the Dueling Critics, Kerry Reid and Jonathan Abarbanel, will talk about Congo Square’s production of DAY OF ABSENCE, which was one of several plays that have closed as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of the virus.
