Pre-pandemic, the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City was among the most visited tourist attractions in all of Europe. Travel restrictions are starting to ease, and Americans are expected to be allowed to travel to most European countries, including Italy, this summer. But if a 10 hour flight from Chicago to Rome isn’t in your near-future, you can still see Michelangelo’s immaculately painted Sistine Chapel ceiling in a vastly different light.

A Los Angeles-based entertainment company has created a traveling exhibit of state-of-the-art photographs of Michelangelo’s ceiling frescoes. The Sistine Chapel Exhibition has made it’s way to west suburban Oak Brook, where visitors can get an up-close look at 34 high resolution photos of the Michelangelo’s celebrated ceiling paintings.

The idea for the exhibit comes from Martin Biallas, the founder of SEE Global Entertainment. He says his own experience visiting the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City inspired him to create something that could be more accessible.
