“I see a lot of a lot of queer stories that cast us as the tragic hero. And I’m not the tragic hero, I’m more interesting than that. I think we have a right, as gay people, to tell the stories of our failed relationships.” - Ann Kreitman, creator of Les Innocents/The Innocents.

A mythical concert that took place seven stories beneath the streets of Paris over 120 years ago is the inspiration for a new immersive theater production that just opened in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. (re)discover theatre’s new production will take audiences inside the Paris catacombs for a queer thriller titled LES INNOCENTS/THE INNOCENTS.

She received an artist grant from Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events to create the production, which is set underneath Paris. Kreitman was inspired to create this immersive theater experience after touring the Catacombs a few years ago and learning of a concert that took place there in 1897.
